How to Style a Sweater Dress for Winter Weather
Sweater dresses are one of my favorite pieces for winter fashion. I love wearing dresses but also keeping warm. They are perfect to dress up for a dinner out or wear to work. Here are my favorite ways to style a sweater dress.
With a Belt
Sometimes a sweater dress can look a little plain to me. I love adding a belt around the waist to make the dress look more fitted and to add a fun accessory. If your belt is too big around your waist you can always tuck the end of your belt into the belt for a tighter fit.
With Over the Knee Boots
I love over the knee boots with a sweater dress because they are not only stylish, but they are also warmer then tights. Over the knee boots should fall slightly above the knee with dress being a few inches above the top of the boot. With a Coat
If you’re experiencing some chilly weather a coat is the perfect outerwear to pair with your sweater dress. If you are looking for a more sophisticated look a long wool coat looks gorgeous with a sweater dress. However, if you want your dress to be the center of attention a shorter jacket is a better suited look. In the picture below I wanted my coat to be the center of attention so I wore a plain sweater dress with a longer coat and a silk scarf to accessorize.
With Flats
I fell like you typically see sweater dresses paired with some kind of boot or heel but I do like how a longer dress looks with flats. I had a midi sweater dress that is perfect for work that I pair with velvet loafers. I personally think a longer sweater dress pairs better with flats.
