How You Can Share your Support for Ovarian Cancer Awareness
September is the official month for Ovarian Cancer Awareness but the need for support doesn’t stop there. You can support awareness for ovarian cancer year round by these steps!
Wear Teal
Teal is the official color for ovarian cancer awareness. After my mom was diagnosed she wore teal as much as she could. Anytime someone would compliment her outfit she would mention she was wearing it for ovarian cancer.
Shop For A Cause
Many companies support causes though certain products. Here are some amazing companies that donate a portion of their proceeds to ovarian cancer research:
One Hope Wines donates the proceeds of their Central Coast Reserve Rosé, California Rosé, Sonoma Reserve Rosé, North Coast Reserve Sparking Rosé, Côtes de Provence Reserve Rosé, + the Rosé and Macramé gift set to ovarian cancer awareness. For every bottle purchased, 100 women will receive education on the risk factors and symptoms of ovarian cancer.
Seek + Swoon donates $10 of their Hope Throw back to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA)
Revive Jewelry has created an Ovarian Cancer Collection of gorgeous pieces that donate 10% back to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
Amazon Smile donates 0.5% of eligible purchases back to the cause of your choice. You can pick the Ovarian Cancer Education and Research Network as your cause to give back to! Shop at smile.amazon.com
Volunteer + Advocate
The national Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance has Advocacy Days held in Washington DC. I went a few years ago and was able to share my story of having a parent with cancer to congress. I was able to meet the staffers from my state and other amazing people who supported ovarian cancer.
Since going to Washington DC is not an easy task, there are also other amazing ways to advocate or volunteer for ovarian cancer. Each state typically has an organization to support the cause so you can always check out their website for ways to get involved. South Carolina has the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation that is often involved in many events across the state.
