French Onion Mac & Cheese

French Onion Mac & Cheese

What you’ll need:

  • 6 tbsp of butter

  • 1 large yellow onion

  • 2 cloves of garlic minced

  • 2 tbsp of thyme

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 1/4 cups of sherry

  • 3 cups of milk

  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 box of pasta

  • 1/4 cup of all purpose flour

  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella

How to make it:

  1. Melt 3 tbsp of butter in a saucepan over medium low heat

  2. Add the onions, garlic, thyme and bay leaves and cook until onions are caramelized

  3. Increase the heat to medium and add the sherry and Worcestershire sauce

  4. Remove from heat, remove the bay leaves and set aside

  5. Bring a large pot of water and cook your pasta according to instructions on its box.

  6. In a sauce pan over medium heat, melt 3 tbsp of butter.

  7. Add the flour and whisk together with your butter.

  8. Then add the milk and bring to a simmer

  9. Slowly whisk in the cheese and stir until the cheese is melted in the sauce is smooth

  10. Add your pasta to your onion mixture and pour the cheese sauce over the pasta.

  11. Combine and enjoy!
