Rothy's vs. Birdies — Taite Daisey

If you’re a loafer fan like me then you are familiar with these two shoe companies that both go off of the promise of extreme comfort. I love them both but there is one thing that sets these shoes apart for me. Here’s is my breakdown to the Rothy’s vs. Birdies debate.

Comfort

Both shoes are comfortable but Birdies win this category. They are made as slippers and feature a soft cushion to rest your feet in all day. They are like not even wearing shoes. Rothy’s are comfy but they can’t compete with a slipper.

Style

Rothy’s and Birdies are both good looking shoes but they both vary in their diversity. If you are looking for more then just a loafer check out Rothy’s flats, points, and sneakers. However, if you know you love the loafer look but want it in more materials like leather or velvet check out Birdies. Rothy’s only uses one material but makes a lot of different shoes. Birdies make a limited amount of shoe types but using different materials. At the end of the day, they are both pretty fashionable.

Work Appropriate

I’d say both shoes are work appropriate. I’ve worn both to my job and no one has any idea that my birdies are slippers. Rothy’s have a clean look to them that makes them perfect to work in!

Cleaning

This is the deal-breaker for me when it comes to shoes. How hard is it to clean them? Rothy’s by far wins this battle because you can throw them in the wash and they come out looking brand new. As much as I love my Birdies it comes down to the fact I have stinky feet and they are not easy to clean at all. You can put baking soda in them and let them sit overnight which helps but it’s not the same as being able to wash them. Because of my sweaty feet, I’d have to go with Rothy’s. I don’t wear socks with my loafers which would definitely help my feet problem but I find it hard to get the right socks that don’t show so I just don’t bother with that.
